My first car that I actually paid for was a 68 Mustang convertible, rusty with a siezed engine but I paid $50 for it to.
It was so cheap  because if had been painted easter egg blud with a brush! and the engine was siezed.
  I got a free 67 289 for it from a guy because he did not know how to figure out that all it needed was a distributer! 3 lobes gone off of it, gave it three dead cylinders. My dad showed me how to check dwell after I had the free engine in. With the dwell needle bouncing all over the place, we pulled the dist out of the siezed engine and had it running like a top in about 20 minutes!
 I sanded and primered the car, drove it for six months and sold it for $500.  seemed like good profit then, sure wish I'd have kept it...

Troy; we all start out doing body work by butchering a car or two. Gene Winfield prob butchered his first car, I would venture.
You no doubt got the car cheaply, didn't you. People who butcher cars usually provide a cheap buy for us all, as long as you know what to look for. As long as there is no fatal mistakes, long live butcher jobs.
I once got a 69 Chevelle 4-dr for $50, and it just had a fresh "tune-up".
As the car was rockin and rollin, barely idling, the lady told me her tale of sorrow. I spotted the loose plugs.
Needless to say, just tightening the plugs got it running right, plus a little tuning. Best $50 car I ever had as I sold it a month later for about $700......Russ
