Re: [AMC-list] Marlin question

99.9% sure everything with a torque tube from 64 (or was it 65?) up got the 20.
The thought is that it was just not worth the effort to keep both in production
for the six cylinder cars.

The 65 "should" have the 20 in it, you never know though. Could have had repair, parts swap.
1965 was a loooong time ago.

rare, yes, super rare? Not sure, but I know/knew of at least one other twinstick six 65.
It was in Columbus area and rusty, but complete and running when I bought my conv.
There is was also one in a yard near here. It was missing most all of the "stuff", but had been a twinstick car to with a six.

those were pretty well optioned as Andrew says.
The few that got sixes usually got the twinstick or a nice cushy auto or so it seems.

I'd think rare would be a 232 with a 3 speed on the column!

Just got to remember "rare" is not always a good thing!
There needs to be demand to bring value!
Best thing to do is value it yourself and screw what other people think!
If it is cool to you, then, it is cool!

" I talked to a guy today about his AMC: 65 Marlin. Its nicely optioned
" but no PS. It has PDB, 232-2v, twin stick and Posi (not sure if it is
" a 15 or 20, he didn't know how to check). He is coming over on Sunday
" to get some parts I have for it and he was wondering just how rare of

" The guy has been around AMCs though not heavily, so he talked

the marlin was something of a 'halo' car so i'd guess most were pretty
well optioned. there are plain ones out there; my '67 had ps and auto
and a six like his, and i heard of another years ago in az, white, six,
and 3sp+o/d.

the rear is easy to check. the 20 has a smooth dome cover with iirc
12 bolts; the 15 has the more familiar lumpy shape with iirc 10 bolts.
there's no mistaking the 20; there's nothing else like it.

the '67 marlin was based on the ambo and they all got 20s; the '65-6
was based on the classic and i'm not sure about them.
