Jim,

Do you have any pictures of the pistons and does it have the 291 heads?  Not sure when the last 10.2:1 401 was built but it probably didn't go too far into the production year.  There are many people over the years who felt they never made them.  I have had a couple to prove they did.  One was in my 71 (which I still own) that was the 47th car to come off the line by VIN number.  It had the 51 cc heads and a high compression piston (factory AMC part not after market) It didn't have a CID number on the block either.  They got the 10.2 compression with the head and piston combo.  That is why there is really 3 different compression ratios in 71.  The increased the head chamber at one point in the year and the piston volume at another point.

What month would the last high compression 401 been made?
Are there records with this list  or somewhere that would show the last one?
I may have found one or at least close.
