Yep, you're right on the first two points! The third is wrong though. The M-151 was a Ford design and used a Ford design four. It was suspiciously similar in appearance to the ubiquitous 2.3L OHC, but only put out 71 hp and ran 7.5:1 compression to run on poor quality gas when necessary. It wasn't a modified 2.3L, not that close in appearance, but may have been a mod of one of the Euro Ford motors.

You know, one of those 25 hp Kohler or B&S V-twins might even power a Mighty Might. There probably are bigger air cooled Kohler's available too. They used to make a V-4, but it would be heavier than the MM's aluminum engine -- the Kohler was a cast iron industrial engine. 

Fun fact: The MM was so well balanced that it would run on three wheels with just a driver -- or a well placed passenger/load. The rims have a wide "edge" on them (smaller diameter than the wheel rim) where a rope or cable can be connected to winch the thing out of the mud if/when necessary.

that was the m151 [?] mutt, m38 jeep replacement with swing axles and
notorious for rollover accidents.  not the best suspension for high
speed maneuvers, and what do you expect will happen when you give
hormone-loaded teenagers the keys to someone else's car?

iirc not only are there folks skilled in stitching bisected mutts back
together, someone's even making new tubs.

also iirc, the mutt's engine was still the jeep hurricane 4, which
traces its roots back to the bantam go-devil 4 of '27.  no wonder the
buick v6, a really up-to-date '60s design, had double the hp even in
mild tune and weighed less.
