I believe that you're correct, Armand.  Others have responded as well, 
saying that the Pertronix unit might be so "smart" that it can advance dwell 
to optimal numbers (ie. degrees).  Yes, I believe that dwell affects timing, 
but changing the timing doesn't affect dwell.
