Check out what Bill said, then check to make sure the hot wire to the Pertronix cuts off with the ignition switch. If it's hot all the time there's your problem! You did say you replace the Pertronix before this happened.

Either your starter solenoid and ceramic block are cross wired, make sure that you follow the wiring diagram as shown in your TSM...? I used to have that same problem with my 1970 Rebel 6 cyl.

Okay, got the Rambler running again. The car kept running when I turned the ignition key off. Kept running after I removed the key. I pulled the wire between the coil and the distributor to shut it off - and disconnected the battery. Not sure what is hacked.

I did replace the coil and Pertronix before this happened. That's what
got the car running again. What would cause it to keep running, even
with the key off (or out?)
