The cable pops off the ball, usually a flat bladed screwdriver and give it a twist will pop if off.
You don't need to remove the ball it is part of the carb.

Subject: [Amc-list] Installing an accelerator cable in 71 Gremlin 232

I can usually do basic repairs with no problem, but I am having trouble
figuring out how to separate the accelerator cable from the carb so I can
replace it. in my 71 Gremlin 232. The round ball that holds it on seems to
be one piece that doesn't unscrew. Would anyone know if I need to order an
additional part or can I dis-assemble the piece that holds the cable to the
carb linkage?

As always...thank you for any replies.

Ted
