Re: [AMC-list] Concord question...

They didn't. There were two body styles for the Spirit -- hatch back (or liftback) and sedan. The sedan is the Gremlin style body. Both were made through 1982. Only 119 sedans were made in 82, roughly 2,500 a year from 79-81.

Just realized the body difference today at my buddies house. I see how the Gremlin transformed into the Spirits and then to a Concord. But noticed today that his 2 Spirits are 1979 "fastbacks" and then the 1980 Spirit has the same look as the 1978 Gremlin. Tail lights, body, and front end grill is Concord that continues to the newer models.

How is it that they changed the body style of the 79 and then went back to the Gremmie look for 1980? Different models of Concord? Pics on the website. The Red and Blue Spirits are 1979 and the White Spirit is a 1980. What's the story?
