The main reason for this program is to get gas guzzlers off the road and
drive vehicles that get better mileage. Yes, better mileage is good for
us and the atmosphere, bad for the oil merchants. but if every one drives
high mileage vehicles, then less gasoline will be sold. And what does
that mean? It means the federal and state taxes on gasoline will go up so
the government will have more money. So, your vehicle makes better
mileage but when the taxes go up, what will you be saving. Not your
pocketbook!
