That's a possibility Ken, since it's an AMC part number, but I'll have to look at the parts book listings. I don't think they differentiate the numbers by application other than engine and model. The trans would have to have the driven gear identified when it got on the assembly line floor though, so maybe you're right. Leaving BW it may not have had the driven gear installed, AMC could have done that, but you'd think it would be done before the trans was installed in the car.

The different trannys may be explained by the different tooth count on the
speedo drives for the different differential ratios and tires.
