Are aluminum engine gaskets not available? Kanters? It couldn't be that hard to cut your own, could it? Tedious though. Copper is a PITA to work and keep flat, it's a bit gummy. If it was under .010 I'd etch it out. You could problaby etch it through .020 but that would lose edge definition. (Printed circuit board techniques work really well but the chemicals suck. I've done a lot of it for PC boards and artwork.) Someone's gotta have on somewhere..
