11 gauge is approximately 1/8", so 14 should be enough (I think 11 gauge is plenty). Just go to Lowe's and get some 1/8" 2x2 angle iron. The downstrap disconnect could come in handy. I don't know exactly how right now, but it's possible! Hmm... you have a two door, so it could make getting in and out the back seat a lot easier. 

Peter will likely make you up a couple pieces with no problem. He must be busy right now, or on vacation maybe. Have you tried calling or just e-mail? 

Go to the building supply store and look at a product called "TW Flash-n-Wrap 25". It's made by TAMKO as a water and air sealer. You can gt is in 4-24" wide rolls. Sticks to nearly any clean. dry surface, and is water proof once applied. It's about the same density as the expensive sound deadener made for cars, and has foil on one side (they make some without the foil too). Temp resistant up to 250° too. A local rod shop has been using it for years, about the same effectiveness as the expensive stuff and costs a lot less. Should meet your requirements!

I like the idea of being able to disconnect from the shoulder pivot point.
Not sure how well it will work out, got my fingers crossed!
Plus these belts have better mounting design. should fit better.
I do need to create an L bracket to use on the retractor. Anyone know what gauge metal I should make the bracket from?
I know I could make it from 1/4" or something, but I prefer to use something lighter in weight. I am thinking 14 gauge?

Still trying to decide what kind of sound dampener sheets fit my rolls royce want and my Rambler mentality...
