it is coming from the bellhousing, not the tranny itself?  feel
anything through the pedal?

armchair quarterbacking - your pressure plate is beginning an unusual
sort of failure which will ultimately leave it permanently engaged.
remedy - clutch job.

if the noise -is- coming from the clutch, disassembly and sleuthing is
the next step anyways.
