Garrys tool is two square bar stocks with proper sized allen heads in them and plates bent up to contain that wicked skinny spring!
Garret Jacob sells or sold them.
Somewhere around $35-40 for one pair shipped last I knew.
He makes them slightly longer than the stock tool and they work nice.

It's all bolt together so you can move the allen headed bolts to a different position for the big cars and take the retainer plates off. I believe his email was Garryjav@xxxxxxxx Haven't talked ot him in a while though.

I've never heard of anyone not liking the tool.  I've used mine several times.
