Re: [Amc-list] Spring compressor

I thought it did both.
All the factory compressors used the car weight to do the job.
Rambler anyway.
I have tried to use other designs in under there and found them to be dangerous!
Be careful! The independant hooks will slide around and things go wrong real fast.
Bring extra underwear....

You may be able to find one that slips into the spring with it fully extended in place in the car.
Then you may have to take ti to a press to get it back out because of the threaded areas not being long enough to release it fully.

I made a jig for my 12 ton press that squarely holds the bottom of the spring in place. It can't slide anywhere. It's made out of 3/4" angle iron. I can compress the spring and remove the holders in the press.

I need to find a jack with slightly more travel for the press, but it still does the job safely.

I will probably have to make another jig or fitting for on top of this one to hold the bigger Ambo springs when I get to them. if I get to them.
