I was just guessing as it has been awhile since I looked at mine but I thought they where pretty darned narrow!
  I have two 15X4" stude wheels and one American wheel all floating around with no tires on them and several times I have thought the American wheem was one of the Stude wheels till I realized the Stude wheels are inside under the workbench and this one lone wheel is outside.  So, yeah, you probably are right on the 4.5" width.
