[Amc-list] Concord is Home - update

The previous owner said it had a hole in the piston and it kinda does.  #1 right at the front edge has an area that has opened up, no more than 1/4" hole but it is there, and the cylinder wall is not damaged.  I think the cheapest and smartest is to a quick rebuild on this one.  New piston and rings and gaskets?  However did read more about the 4.0 head on the 4.2 and found one on e-bay remanned for $269!?!  Claiming 40 hp and 18% increase in gas mileage.
 
IF I do this new head, will the previous rocker arms and push rods do their job.  The re-ring kit has rod bearings of course and will the main bearings also work IF I don't touch them?  Same question for camshaft and lifters?  Cannot really "afford" a lot but in selling the 80 Wagon can make up for it.  And since it is in such great condition, I might as well make the motor start "fresh" too and help it live long.
 
Enigne has 105,000 on it.  Owner THOUGHT he bought it in the early 90's however the title was issued Feb 1984!  So he must be the 2nd owner and the 1st only owned for a year?!?  Aboslutely clean and SOLID all around, garage kept.  AM/FM/CB PS/PB/PW/Pseat/PLocks rear wiper/washer, rear trunk shade, vanity mirror, clock, variable wipers and I believe EVERY option except for the roof rack and cruise control.  Twin grip differential, he mentioned about regular maintenance and changing fluid in these.  "When you hear it start to chatter, it is time to change the fluid"  Really?
