Did they sell him a Delco alt instead of a Motorcraft/Autolite one?

Good Morning,

While over at my in-law's farm helping my father-in-law with his S10
and F150, he asked me if I might be able to help him with his old Jeep.
It's a '75 CJ5 with a six (not sure if it's a 232 or 258). He has a
replacement alternator that he's yet to install. It has a place for the
connector that has the red and black wires. His question to me was
where the purple/white wire goes. I suggested that I could post a
question here and see what I could find. The wire exits the wiring
harness at the front passenger-side of the valve cover. Has anyone got
any suggestions as to where this wire might go? Thanks so much.

Regards,

Russ (from Pa.)
