First off welcome to the list...........
1. No...you will need an AMC case 727....all internal parts and the tail 
shaft are the same .. A & A trans has new AMC cases
2. AMC case trany's only ...727/904/998 the 998 came behind small V8's 
IE 304...
3.  some links.....AMC  engine info........any later TSM has good info 
on building AMC V8's.
