I'll start by saying.

I HATE you....   No, not really, but 

I have wanted a 5 speed concord wagon forever.

so, Tell me where it is at and I'll run get it, save you the trouble.

As for the 30 mpg, yes that is correct. My mothers automatic 83 sedan with 2:21 gears got 28.7 mpg on open flat highway, so 30 out of the stick should be acomplishable.

To do the 304, you need the 304, duh, a flywheel and the crossmember and mounts.
I believe BullTear makes mounts to put the 304 on the six cyl crossmember.

The T5 will hold up to the 304 only if you are very nice to it!
I'd rebuild it first and make sure you use good Synthetic gear lube in it! Do not let someone put ATF in it!
They changed that spec from ATF to a gearlube based fluid within the first year of production on the nonWorld Class T5.  Even if you kill the T5 you can swap to a Ford T5 rather easily.

If you do decide to pass on it, please pass the info along so one of us can try and save it!
Funny, I always saw my wagon as being Blue with the woodgrain, so that's probably not mine anyway :)
