I believe that shaft is fixed, The ears or is it flats on the converter snout run the pump.
It's been so many years since I did an automatic I'd have to sit down and study the book to get the correct terminology again.
  I believe you have nothing to worry about concerning that particular shaft not turning.
I can look it up if no one else has a better memory than mine!
