The technical name is a "Panhard rod" (or bar), but "track bar" is a common name for it also. It's a simple steel tubing piece. Pull it off and bend it back, then reinstall. No need to replace it unless it's bent to the point it has a crease in it (very rare!). Any metal/welding shop can bend it if you don't want to, and don't worry about messing it up. If you do the local welding shop can easily make up a new one from steel tubing. ------------ Date: Mon, 3 Nov 2008 17:33:45 -0500 From: Wayne E LaMothe <superglider@xxxxxxxx> I was just working on the brakes on the 66 Ambo wagon and noticed that the bar that goes behind the axle is bent. I forget what you call it but it is part of the torque tube setup. On my Jeep I would call it a trackbar. And looking further, I believe the torque tube itself has a dimple in it too. The "trackbar" is rubbing on the diff cover so I know the bend is not supposed to be there. Anyone have a "trackbar"? I know there is one on a 66 wagon at Leon's in VA and I may have to run there for other parts but would prefer not to have to. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
