I even talked to a "hotrod" rubber sealer/gasket supplier at the Daytona Turkey Rod Run (coming up again) to see about maybe taking something common and modifying it to my needs, but it didn't sound promising. They need a sample/cross section (anyone got a section of a bad one they're willing to cut and send to me?). The urethane sealer is a good idea and I'll keep that in mind.

I've personally had really bad luck with any sort of NOS rubber. Old
rubber is still old, it seems to self-deteriorate even in the OEM bag.
Certainly weather (sunlight?) makes it worse.
