For what it's worth -- when I did the floors on the Hornet, I used 
dynamat or something for sound, but also that quilted layered silver 
stuff for heat, on the firewall and trans hump, roof and other places.

But I left a 12" area on the very bottom of each floor so that water, if 
it gets in there, can wick up and evaporate.

THe last thing I wanted to do was create a place for water to collect 
FOR EVER like the factory rubber mats did on my Classic.

I figured losing that much insulating area wouldn't make much 
difference. No way to tell, but it's certainly th quietest car I have.
