I checked dwell on my points, and was off. Nudged 'em and checked again. Nudged 'em and checked again! I'm guessing I should simply check and nudge with engine cranking, then tighten down once they are right. But not too tight - as I again stripped the breaker plate. I decided to not learn how to do it right. I chose to be ignorant of the whole matter. So - I ordered a Pertronix Ignitor 1162A. I think it should work fine with my stock coil (I replaced that a few months ago - coil is good, just stock). Should work fine with stock distributor cap and sparkplug wires (those are relatively new, too - a few months old). Are there any gotchas in installing it? Do I just pull out the rotor, condensor, points and breaker plate - and snap the Pertronix in? I want to make sure I have all parts on hand, as the car is again non-op and I'm hoofing it tomorrow if I don't get the Rambler running again. Since I'm sticking with the stock coil, do I leave the plugs as is, or do I have to gap 'em? _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
