It's not bad Ju Ju to jump teeth as long as the cam ends up in the right place!
If you KNOW it is 8 degrees retarded you can just get a dowel kit and advance it 8 degrees to zero.
Teeth jumping usually does not work out to any useable degree as it ends up being too much.
But with 8 degrees it may well work!

Just be sure you remember WTF you did in case you go back in 5 years from now and go, hey my chain jumped a tooth!!!
