[Amc-list] LPG 258 (running compression)

I am SO glad to see folks finally starting to use "running compression" as a
tool in putting together their engine combinations.
I just finished a 2.6 Mitsubishi turbo engine. I raised the static
compression from 7-1 (ecch!) to 8.2-1. The reason behind this was on a
STREET engine it's more important (for drivability and mileage) to have a
higher compression engine with less (8lbs) boost,, than a lower compression
engine with more boost.
Ultimately the lower push engine WOULD be able to make more power BUT,,,
ever driven a 7-1 motor NOT on boost??? VERY sluggish and poor throttle
response UNTILL it gets into boost.
My cranking compression changed from 140# to 160# using the same cam. So
far no knock at 10' base timing and 93 octane gasoline. It will be
interesting to put the Gtech on it and get some figures as soon as we get it
broken in.
But HEY,,, that's just ME!!!
