Joe, is this a driver, or something you want to keep 100% stock (restored)? If it's a driver forget the pedal! Go to the salvage yard and get one from nearly any car (Jeep XJ to keep it AMC!) with a cable throttle. The pedal bolts to the firewall. I'd even convert to a cable. You can connect the cable to the existing rod (firewall to carb) instead of to the carb itself. Might take a little ingenuity to rig a mount on the carb, but shouldn't be hard. The cable mounts to the firewall in one of two ways -- 1) clips in a hole in the firewall or 2) has a "flange" with a screw hole on the firewall end.
