I had access to a 20 ton when I took mine apart, but a 12 ton should do it. Hope so, if I need to do it now that's all I have access to! If it looks like the hub doesn't want to come off, put it under pressure then walk away. Make sure a wood block is between the axle and concrete floor, 1/2" clearance between block and axle is enough! The hub will usually pop off after it has been under pressure for an hour or two, sometimes 10-15 minutes. I had to do that with one of mine even in the 20 ton press (was scared to put it under full pressure, besides, the 6" channel steel base pieces were starting to bow slightly). The hubs get stuck tight when the hubs haven't been removed in 30 or so years, but can spin because they don't have the proper torque! Stuck and properly torqued are two different things...

I actually had not thought of pulling the assembly then pressing it apart.
I wonder if I can do that in my 12 ton press?
