[Amc-list] Throatless shear

I'd tag this off topic, but it's not realy very far off since I want it to work on my Convert and Jeep.

I've done some looking and reading.
We have a throatless here at work and it is such a sweet means of cutting sheet metal.
Quiet, takes no power and little effort, even for a crippled guy!
Cuts curves, circles, corners what ever and does not take up a lot of space when not in use.

Beverly is the name that comes up as "the best", but pricing starts at $500+-
So of course i'm looking at cheaper such as HF or wangho [just kidding]

What I have read is that HF's blades chip when they are used to cut steel, once you replace them for $40 they are fine. So that adds up to about $160 + shipping i the end as their shear is right at $119 right now, not on sale.

I found a guy on the evilbay with tons of 100% feedback selling for $100-110, looks the same as the HF but no name on it. He says he can get replacement blades for $25. So his looks to be a better deal in the long run.

Anyway, does anyone have any experience with NON HF Throatless shears? or have another thought as to what may be a better way to go? I do want to stay kind of old fashioned here, no Plasma or such as I would just need to clean up the cuts for welding anyway.

I'm using up to 16 gauge steel on the convertible to rebuild the under fender areas. I won't call the troughs cause when I'm done they aren't anymore!

Got my oldest settled into his freshman year at WVU's dorm.
Youngest is a sophomore in high school, no fall sports and we hired an additional guy at work, so maybe, just maybe I can slowly start wittling away at the humungous pile of projects sitting at home.
Just got to look at them one little bit at a time as if I stand back and look at the whole picture, well, I won't do that!! shudddderrrrr.....
