Re: [Amc-list] [amc-list] More Cheap Brakes

I got to say thanks to Jim for looking up the Cougar T-bird rotors at Napa.
I never dreamed they'd done it, but it was not a typo. The 89 up birds and cougars went to 4 1/4" bolt pattern!
So I was back to the drawing board for a rotor that would fit inside a 15" whell and be vented.
I think I may have the right one now.
1998 Dodge Avenger.
4.5" five bolt lug pattern.
10.078" diameter
.945" nominal thickness
.882 minimum thickness
1.797 overall height.

The over height is a little thin and that has me wondering what my wheels are like in that area.
A Mustang Cobra rotor is about 1.9" overall height.

The good news is they are only about $19.00 a piece. So if all else fails I can just get one to try out.

There's a guy on Evilbay that is making brackets to bolt Mustang rear calipers to Mustang, ranger 7.5 and 8.8 inch rear axles using the 11.6 inch cobra rotors. He says they will not fit under 15" wheels.
His brackets bolt to the back side of the housing endplates and look like the right aproach for my 05 up Mustang calipers. I don't think I will have much trouble at all once I get everything in hand. He uses 1/4" cold rolled steel. I epxect I can build my own similar plates at home easily.
The AMC/Jeep 80 rotors have so much depth to them the would need a weld on bracket as the axle protusion is 2.5"s on the Ranger housing. The AMC rotor is over 3"s deep in overall height! I do have one I can check to be sure, but in my mind I don't see it happening.

Anyone else have any ideas for under 11" 4.5" bolt pattern vented rotors?

2 more nights and I get to stop these 60+ hour weeks for a while! Yeah!
Then maybe I can get somewhere with my shoulder.
Had another steroid shot in it a couple of weeks ago and tha thas helped marginally. I can't keep up with all the excersizes with the constant overtime and trying to work in a few hours sleep and family stuff.
My oldest is now officially 18 and moves into the dorm next Friday, Yeah! One messy kid out for a while!!!
