I recall something about the countershaft being held in alignment with a bushing in the 4 cyl version, whereas the 6 cyl has a bearing.

afaik no difference.  -maybe- the input is 1" x 14 spline instead of 1
1/8" x 10, but i don't think so.

btw these have the same gears as the gm s-10 t5.
