No cable on a TH400 (electric kickdown) Jim Blair, Lynnwood, WA '87 Comanche, '83 Jeep J10, '84 Jeep J10 From: Frank Swygert <farna@xxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [Amc-list] 727 conversion to manual shifting ... ? If it does have a 700R4 you'd better get that cable replaced! If not it will burn up the trans. The 700R4 uses a throttle valve cable that does double duty as a kick-down cable. If it's a TH-400 it should have a vacuum modulator for shifting and I believe the only purpose of the cable is for a kick-down. I'm with you -- sounds like the "mechanic" working on the truck doesn't know what he's doing. Might just be because it's an older vehicle without a computer. I'd take it to another shop and tell them you think it needs a good tune-up. If they find anything else they'll let you know! _________________________________________________________________ It’s a talkathon – but it’s not just talk. http://www.imtalkathon.com/?source=EML_WLH_Talkathon_JustTalk -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
