The lens attaches to the housing with a caulk-like sealer, not too unlike dum-dum. You could use clear silicone to glue it on, or some similar squishable adhesive. 
I'd clean the channels of the housing out really well so that your new adhesive will have a good place to stick to.

Greg,

I just lost the lens.  The taillight housing is still securely attached to the 
car.  I'm trying to figure out how the lens is attached to the housing.
