I purchase 100 octane low lead fuel from the local airport. It has more lead
in it than the old leaded motor car fuels did but less than the old leaded
aircraft fuels had.  I mix it approximately 50/50 with 91/92 octane lead
free gas and it provides ping and detonation free operation of a high
compression engine.  Back in the 80s we used to run 100ll in the Formula
Ford 1600cc racing engine with very good results.
Some racing auto gas is still available (VP fuels, Sunoco, etc.) with lead
in it,
Rambler mentality provides resistance to the purchase of these fuels, they
can be rather expensive.
