Re: [Amc-list] Hydrogen thoughts and replies

The Loremo design concept is interesting, but it's a large go-cart! Something like that might catch on in Europe and Asia, but wouldn't do well here at all. The typical US buyer has a hard time getting into a standard mid size compact car now, or a compact SUV, much less something smaller than a VW Beetle or BMW Mini. It's closer to the size of the original Crosleys! The Loremo does look comfortable, but entry/exit isn't exactly easy.

After looking at the design it's obvious that a larger vehicle, something about the size of the larger Saturn, could be built using the same techniques. It would be much heavier (the Loremo main structure is only 209 lbs!), maybe four times as much for the main structure, which would mean a larger engine and such. Even then economy should still be in the 50-60 mpg range with performance about on a par with the large Saturn. I'd even settle for 40 mpg and the same performance and comfort level. Now something like that might sell over here! Of course if they try to make something that competes with the regular car companies right away I bet they'd find themselves with all kinds of road blocks.

For the short term, it's better to park the car if you can. In a couple of years, more efficient designs, like the Loremo http://evolution.loremo.com/index.php?lang=en will become generally available.
