  I also recently purchased a car listed on ebay but off auction as there were no bids.  The car, a 1963 American 440 4 door 52k original mile car was a decent deal for $1,200.00, and was advertised as raod ready.  The seller, a young man in his early 30's had also acquired the car via e-bay some 3 years ago, but only drove it and did not really maintain it,
   it wasn't safely drivable as the front end collapsed as I was removing it from the trailer, hence I've got a project ahead of me...
   
  Long story short, the car came with plenty of documents and history, and I was able to contact the 3rd owner of the car whom had owned it for somoe 12 years.  This family, in their 50's was so glad that someone who could save the car now has it, that there were actually teary moments on their end of the line as they recounted the sentiment of the beloved Rambler...Originally feeling a bit unhappy about the car's problems, the ability to speak with the old owners and gain perspective as to the cars history gave me an entirely new motivation to get the car back together and get it on the road, as I plan to use it a a daily driver in decent weather.  I feel that is someone who is/was not a dedicated AMC'er
  ended up with this car, it would already be in the crusher..,

even consider trying to start it. I described the
vehicle honestly in the Ebay auction and it sold
readily, but I was concerned that when the buyer
received the car, he would be disappointed. In fact,
the buyer was very satisfied when he received the car
because of it's rust free condition.

Last night I received an email from the buyer saying
that the orange car would used as the base vehicle for
the project and not his old high school car after all.
I feel rewarded because I was able to rescue that car
and find a home for it and now I'm doubly grateful
that the car itself will have new life, and not just
be used for parts. These old cars aren't living
beings but it still feels good to save one when you
can.
