[Amc-list] Orange Wins

In 2006 or 2007 I sold a Big Bad Orange 1970 Javelin
via an Ebay auction to a buyer in Illinois. The guy
had his 1970 Javelin which he bought in high school
and which he was intending to restore. He bought the
orange car and one other car from the East Coast so
that he would be sure to have enough good parts for
the project.

The car which I subesequently sold him had been
sitting in a desert junkyard near Barstow for many
years. It was sun bleached, with some broken glass
and had over 100 pounds of sand in it when I found it.
I hauled it home and cleaned it up some for the
auction, but the 304 V8 was too full of sand for me to
even consider trying to start it. I described the
vehicle honestly in the Ebay auction and it sold
readily, but I was concerned that when the buyer
received the car, he would be disappointed. In fact,
the buyer was very satisfied when he received the car
because of it's rust free condition.

Last night I received an email from the buyer saying
that the orange car would used as the base vehicle for
the project and not his old high school car after all.
I feel rewarded because I was able to rescue that car
and find a home for it and now I'm doubly grateful
that the car itself will have new life, and not just
be used for parts. These old cars aren't living
beings but it still feels good to save one when you
can.
