The FC-150 had a 81" wheelbase, FC-170 had a 103.5" wheelbase. The FC-150 is basically built on a CJ-5 frame. It has a six foot bed, but with the driver's seat over the axle it was shorter overall than a Metropolitan! (info from "The Story of Jeep", by Pat Foster). Willys was looking for a way to expand the product line without a lot of cost. Building a truck on the CJ frame sure does fit the bill! They weren't very popular though. I've driven Korean trucks built in a similar fashion. The driving position takes some getting used to! Toyota sold a van over here in the 80s that had a similar driving position, it wasn't real popular either. ---------------- Date: Tue, 20 May 2008 09:23:39 -0700 (PDT) From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [Amc-list] When was the last time you saw one of THESE! JEEP made that?! Man is it weird looking! First Jeep product I've really liked, 'cept a 52 or so F-head'ed thing. I mean, it's utilitarian so they didn't fly Pininfarina out, but wow, that's odd. IS that wheelbase sub-90"? Missing front bumper I assume. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
