Not all front wheel drive is great at speed !!!!!!
Don't generalize all front drive cars into this category, please.

Your trouble with rear wheel drive cars is the set ups you've had.

Drive a well prepared open wheel open cockpit rear drive Formula Ford some
time.....

I have heard from others that front drive is neat, but if it truly were the
best way to build a handling car wouldn't
all sports cars and all road racing cars be front drive??

Much better than the front drive set up is a mid engine rear drive car. Just
like and F-1 racing car. That's the ultimate!!

For ease of converting to a Lemons car I can understand your view point.

But don't be condemning rear drive because of one front drive
experience.....
