Carpet and seats are done! I still need to finish details on them, but the hard part is done. It's beginning to look exactly as I imagine it. The front doors are still skinless, but over the last month or two I've replaced all the window guides and fuzzies, taken everything out, cleaned and greased it. Window regulators are smooth and quiet, like new. The carpeting has, no surprise, quieted the car down substantially. The doors rattle a bit because the old door seals are ruined, but I've got new ones here. Gotta strip the paint and crud from the door edges (PITA, since I'm not taking the doors off). http://wps.com/AMC/1963-Rambler-American/Upholstery I got all the crunchy fake leather texture crap off the center console, it was pretty bad. Underneath is a solid and smooth fiberglas shell, one corner had a break, fixed already. It will get painted silver, or covered in silver vinyl, if I can manage that cleanly. The console's ribbed aluminum is pretty rough; I'll replace it with brushed stainless sheet. The compartment door I will make an upholstered pad for; my oldest dog likes to put her butt on the back seat and her feet on the compartment door. Believe me, it's the easiest solution. It'll keep nose prints off the windshield. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
