Jesse is correct. Do NOT machine the opening in the back of the bell
housing. It's much simpler to machine an all steel (much better than the
aluminum one for durability) front bearing retainer from a ford T5 to fit
the opening. I've had this done for my 70 Javelin. Got the bell from a 79
304 Spirit AMX with SR4 trans.

This part is for Mark Price, I would really like to know which Ford clutch
disc was being used that caused a problem with the T5 swap into an AMC. I
used a one and one sixteenth diameter ten spline disc from a Ford Mustang,
with a pressure plate made for the AMC and I've had nothing but great times
driving this setup ??? I would like to understand what may have happened
there that didn't work out???
