I just changed the plugs on my 83. It has the two small ones, so does my Renix block. The small plug block is the earlier one, but I don't know when AMC changed to five large plugs (and MUCH easier to deal with than the little ones!). I would think it was NLT 96 when they made other block changes, but may have been earlier.

The two small plug block has the larger tap hole the knock sensor went into.
 So I assume the two small plug block is earlier then the 5 larger block.
