Rather than go with all the hassles.
I'd go to the 94-95 T5 as suggested.
It would be very easy to make a plate that centered on the existing bell hole and then centered the T5.
The nice long input on the newer T5 gives you plenty of room.
Coutner sunk allen heads to bolt the plate to the bell. 
The plate can be plenty thick to accept the bolts to mount the trans.
Hey, you can probably find a plate to modify if you look.
