Frank's right on that. But if you want three on the tree with the cable OD, then the regular ratio will be OK, since you don't get the pushbutton kickdown. To be honest, I rarely "split gears" with the OD, eg. run 2nd-over. For mundane driving (to work, etc) it lugs just fine over the big RPM gap. With a normal 2-3 ratio split, it would be perfect without OD. I'm not trying to talk you out of it, it IS fun to have. But you won't hate the car without it! I'm a die-hard fan of underdogs-within-underdogs, and even I don't recommend the T-96! Repair is extremely expensive, parts are getting quite rare. Especially gears for the wide-ratio version ("Twin Stick"). It is the only manual trans that will bolt into some cars though. I even like generators. (I draw the line ignition contact points.) The T-14 is very close, but will require hacking bellhousing and driveshaft, and secondarily, shifter linkage (you could do that part with a vise and hand tools though). Unless you find a very rare T-14 with overdrive, you'd lose "twin stick", and the OD really makes the little engine successful in modern traffic. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
