I put the main bearing caps in MALT VINEGAR and it cleaned the rust off. If you use store shelf vinegar (apple cider, etc) in the gallon jugs, it is diluted with water to like a 5% or 10% solution. P.S. vinegar will eat aluminum, so it can only be used on Steel or Cast Iron.
