Good point on the mask.  Also, I used to use Black Diamond, available from Tractor Supply, but it took forever, and didn't seem to want to work half the time.  I switched to glass beads, and the difference was night and day!  The beads do break down, and eventually have to be replaced, but cleaning parts is a lot more pleasant with this system.
And, my cabinet doesn't have a light inside.  I tape one of my trouble lights (plastic with neon tube) to the upper left corner, away from the door, and gloves.  It helps tremendously, as does the vacuum.

Footnote; I finally got the engine in the Typhoon last week.  At LAST!
