Re: [Amc-list] t86f/r10

Get the bell housing too. Instead of making a cross member drill the bell for the rear mounts. It's thick enough, but you might have to use carriage bolts from the inside so the flywheel and clutch clear the bolt heads. I don't think regular bolts would be a problem though. The bell is thick enough to bolt the mounts on, but not thick enough to tap for threads. I've seen it done, but of course didn't get to look inside the bell to check bolt head clearance.

I still think the guy is wrong about it being a T-86. Either he didn't clean and look close enough, he's going by the TSM and assuming it's a 232 when it was a 199 (or the trans was changed out in the last 40 years...), or he's going by what he was told. See if he'll take a photo of the cast-in numbers on the side and a closer one of the shift shafts (so you can see that the webbing between the bosses isn't there better).

i had sent a message to the seller, asking what model
trans it was. he emailed me back saying it is a
t86f/r10. he also has the bellhousing, flywheel, and
clutch. if i was to get all of this, will it fairly
easily bolt into my 62 classic? i know the bellhousing
will not have the mounts like my current one. and i
will have to put a cross member for the trans. will i
be able to still be strong enough for the t-tube to
push on it? would be nice if it will just go right
into my bellhousing currently in use.
