Wasn't that gasket just four strips of self stick foam applied to the heater
box?  Might explain why the parts book shows it as one piece yet there were
four pieces on the box.  Does the parts book have "as required" in the
quantity column?  That would mean you would order in bulk and use enough for
that application.
