It would have to be the early TBI injection, 85-90. I'm pretty sure the speed sensor is on the flywheel like the early 4.0L (Renix) MPI system and the TBI used on the Alliance (I had one of those once!). That would make it hard to adapt. The GM 2.5L TBI system, however, is pretty easy to adapt. Just make sure you get one from an engine with a ditributor. My 87 Pontiac 6000 w/2.5L had the distributorless system, I don't know if the last distributors in cars was 85 or 86. S-10 trucks may have had a distributor for a couple more years.

what about its fuel injection? someone on the list
said possibly adapting from a small 4 to fit the 196??
maybe someone should try it?? heres your chance. i
would be tempted if i was close
